The garden is run almost entirely on a voluntary basis. There is a group of dedicated gardeners who work every Tuesday under the direction of our two permanent gardeners. For practical reasons this has to be a limited number and no vacancies exist at present.

However, we are always seeking volunteers for Admissions, the Shop, House Stewards and the Tea-Room. If you feel you would like to devote a few afternoons to helping keep these beautiful gardens open, we would like to hear from you. You can offer as much time as you can spare – it can be as little as one afternoon a month, and you would not be on your own as you would always be with a team of regular and experienced volunteers. Besides helping with the work of the Garden, you would receive a regular volunteers’ bulletin, the Friends’ newsletter and a volunteer’s pass which entitles you and a guest to free entry on regular open days. We also hold an annual volunteers’ lunch to say thank you for all the help that volunteers provide. If you would like to find out more, let us have your details and tell us which areas of assistance interest you by emailing from the Contact Us page. You will be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
